Oh, those bricks

When the Hotel Castaneda was being built in 1899, Las Vegas brickyards didn’t have enough capacity to supply all the material that was needed. So bricks were brought in from La Junta and Trinidad, Colorado; Pittsburg, Coffeyville and Neodesha, Kansas, and other locations in the U.S.A. These old bricks had more variation in size, shape and composition than modern bricks, but the restoration crew is recycling them into the arcade walkway and other places throughout the historic hotel.
