Up, up and away

The Hotel Castaneda restoration crew has begun work on recreating the ceilings, beginning in the dining room. The craftsmen seek out portions of the ceiling that are intact and use them to create molds of the panels. They use the reverse portion of the panel so they don’t have to contend with stripping paint and other blemishes. Once the mold is created, they make plaster casts that are mounted to the ceiling. In the video, the white sections are the new, plaster casts of the ceiling.
